Little Big Photography – The Waltons

11 Jul

It’s been awhile since I’ve done any portrait photography that didn’t include Isobel, but when my Bestie requested some photos of her family I jumped at the chance. I was supposed to take their family portraits back in February when Angela turned 30, but one thing led to another and it just never happened. Life gets in the way. Stupid life! God. Always in the way.

This was by far the shortest photo session I’ve ever done, but then again, it was the only photo session I’ve ever done in July.

It was hot. Really, really hot. Oppressive to be outside hot. One hundred degrees hot.

This is not unusual or noteworthy for my area. It’s not even a heatwave. This is our normal July temperatures and folks with any amount of sense stay inside with the air conditioning on and play video games with the shades drawn. At least, that’s what we would have been doing if it weren’t for pictures.

We had to walk a little ways to find the perfect spot. A wedding had been scheduled in the most picturesque area.

Let that sink in a minute–someone decided to schedule an outdoor wedding for July. That can only mean one thing: someone really hates all their family and friends.

It was worth it,though, because I got some great shots of them immediately so we weren’t there long. Kingston is such a ham and that kid has the most gorgeous blue eyes I have ever seen. Too bad he lacks any sort of pigment! Actually, I love his alabaster skin but I know his parents worry about him burning in the sun. If that kid was any paler, he’d sparkle.

(Oh, snap! I bet you didn’t expect Twilight humor!)

Afterward we decided to all go out for ice cream. Kingston thoroughly enjoyed playing with a water bottle while Isobel used a sample spoon to take bites off my cone.

After awhile she lost patience with that and stole the last bit of Dad’s cone and made a huge mess. I was worried she was going to attract bugs but she had a blast.

Now, who wants to thank me for my indoor wedding in May?! You’re welcome.

I am pretty sure most things are not meant to be done in the middle of summer, except maybe going on vacation to somewhere that doesn’t ever get into the 100’s.

Oh, and thanks for doing the picture taking! 🙂

I want an outside wedding, but Northern Ontario at the end of August shouldn’t be too bad. And it’s by the lake! It’s always cooler by the lake.

An outdoor July wedding sounds lovely where you are. Over here all the plants are dead by July. It’s not a pretty sight.

I very much appreciate AC, especially at events where I have to wear something formal.

Thank you so much for doing these pictures for us in the miserable heat. We should do it again when it cools off some. Like maybe some cute Halloween pictures.

I will take his picture as Link as long as you let me take his picture as Cupid, also. 😛
